Handbuilt one ball at a time from stoneware clay and Iron stain. Fired to cone 6.

Given 2008-03-14

The Guardians by ~birthmark1 is afabulous ceramic work. The interior glaze color is a stunning accent that matches the earthy surface of the outside. The 'guardians' are lined along a very pleasing meandering edge. At first glance the creatures appear innocent enough but look awhile and they will seem to be staring back in defiance. Totally awesome and unique. Dreamy glazed interior and great contrast to the outside. The guardians are sooooooooo cool.

Wow, that's amazing. I love it. o_o The patience for it... All those little balls of clay. x.x I really love the contrast of the glaze and the outside. I thought at first that it was like, a knitted thing, around a big gemlike thing. In the small preview. x] After I looked it was much different!

You're one of those lucky people with the talent to pull an abstract idea from your mind and create something truly one-of-a-kind. I love the texture, the form, and the colour. From the thumbnail I thought it was some kind of knitted bottle cozy, but it's far cooler than that! :D

This is really quite incredible! And the idea of using the balls instead of hmm... those long "lines" is so much better (I'll just have to try it too sometime).

that is simply fantastic..
i'm really surprised at the lack of comments.. but oh well, the day is still young.

I really love your choice of blue to glaze the inside.. the contrast with the natural colored clay on the outside is one of my favorite contrasts.. it's beautiful
